Secondary Tolerance Assembly
Secondary students from Kuwait National English School held
an assembly on Tolerance showing its importance through education and
explaining through debates on cases of intolerance nowadays and by the past and
its impact on the happiness of mankind. Tolerance is one of the most important
values and legal, moral requirement and a base for democracy, human rights, and
peace. Madame Chantal assessed the students on this occasion before the
presentations by the students, to stress on the importance of John Locke,
Pierre Bayle and the philosophers of the Enlightenment Era who helped to move
the notion of tolerance to the actual positive one associated with mutual
respect, freedom of conscience, thought and belief. She quoted John Locke,
Voltaire and Montesquieu words still apply to the current world: Force cannot
lead to justice and conviction.
