UK Junior Mathematics Competition 2024
UKMT (UK Mathematical Challenge) is established to advance
the education of children and young people in Mathematics. It is aimed to
achieve this, but not exclusively, by organizing and running mathematics
competition. The competition comprises of a 60 minute, 25 multiple choice
Challenge. It encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought and
fluency to make students think. The problems on the Maths Challenge are
designed to make students think, most are accessible yet still challenge those
with more experience.
The junior competition was held on Thursday 25, 2024 and KNES
entered 50 enthusiastic mathematicians from Year 7 to Year 9. They enjoyed
solving the problems presented in the UKMT and were stimulated by the problems
they encountered in the challenge. There was a mathematically charged
atmosphere following the competition where students were eager to discus the
questions they had found challenging with their peers.
