The KNES English department organized an exciting English quiz that left students both challenged and entertained. The event, which also functioned as a transition event, showcased the students' proficiency in various aspects of the English language, ranging from traditional spelling bees to more complex verbal analogies and figures of speech. The year 6 and Year 7 students were grouped together to foster friendship, enhance collaborative work with peers as well as giving them a taste of what Secondary English is all about.

The quiz comprised several rounds, each designed to test different facets of the students' language skills. The verbal analogies round had participants deciphering relationships between words, encouraging them to think critically and logically. Verbal classifications followed suit, prompting students to categorize words based on specific criteria, and demonstrating their understanding of linguistic nuances. Figures of speech added a creative twist, requiring students to identify and explain various rhetorical devices in sentences. This segment not only evaluated their grasp of literary elements but also celebrated the beauty of language. Anagrams presented a playful challenge, as participants unscrambled letters to reveal hidden words, showcasing their vocabulary and problem-solving skills. The spelling bee section brought back a classic yet essential component of language mastery and their spelling prowess. Finally, the general knowledge section broadened their scope beyond language, encompassing a range of topics related to literature, history, and current affairs. This part of the quiz aimed to foster a well-rounded understanding of the world and its cultural intricacies.

In the end, the English quiz wasn't just a competition; it was a celebration of language, intellect, and camaraderie. Students left the event with a newfound appreciation for the English language and a sense of accomplishment, proving that learning can be both educational and enjoyable.
