Message from the Assistant Director regarding Ramadan

27 Mar 2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

Re: Letter about the Holy month of Ramadan – Ramadan Kareem

The Holy Month of Ramadan will start during our Spring break. Ramadan is expected to begin the evening of April 03, 2022 and running through until May 02, 2022 (depending on the visibility of the moon). Ramadan is a period of prayer, self-control, charity and goodwill to others.

Timing of lessons during the Holy month of Ramadan:

Following guidelines from the Ministry of Education of Kuwait we will reduce the school hours during the Holy Month of Ramadan, starting at 8.15 am and finishing at {12:30 pm EYFS}, {1:00 pm KS1}, {1:10 pm KS2} and {1.30 pm Secondary}. The reduced hours will help students have enough time to rest and have plenty of time to revise and study.  If your son/daughter is fasting, please make sure he/she gets as much sleep as required during this time. Like students, members of our staff who are Muslims will also be observing Ramadan and fasting. Our school looks forward to supporting those who will be involved in fasting. During the Ramadan month, the timing of the day will be as follows:

Attendance: Attendance during this period is as important as at any other time of the year.  Children need to be in school to learn.  Senior students studying IGCSE and AS/A level courses need to continue to study.  KS1, 2 & 3 students are regularly being assessed and these marks are fed into their monthly and term report.  We want all our students to achieve the best they possibly can in all aspects of their work, and this includes external examinations. We respectfully ask you to make sure that your son/daughter continues to come to school on time every day during Ramadan.

Thank you for your support and continue to work with the school, which is always greatly appreciated. On behalf of Kuwait National English School, may I wish our Muslim community a peaceful, healthy, and blessed holy month of Ramadan - Ramadan Kareem.

Yours sincerely,

Dr. Raouf Khodabocus, BSc, MSc, PhD, FCIC, FCSC (Canada)
