EYFS / Primary Transition Day Oct. 14th, 2019

Year 1 and Reception students got together for their first Transition Activity of the year.  Each child from reception was paired up with a child from year 1. The Reception children were invited to read their reading books to the Year 1 students in a  Buddy Reading exercise. The year 1 students were encouraged to help with difficult words and also asked simple questions to the Reception children relating to the reading book to share comprehension.

The children played some games to get to know each other and the Reception children listened together as the Year 1 students read them a story.

These Transition Activities are meant to start to prepare the Reception children for Year 1 next year in the Primary Department. It gives great opportunities for the children to adjust to the more academic environment and the teachers a chance to get to know the children.

At KNES we plan quite a few of these transition days through the year to support the children when they make the transition from Early Years to Primary
