Sustainable Art & Design Drawing Competition

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme – UN Habitat in Kuwait presents its kindest regards to your distinguished school. UN-Habitat and Boulevard Park is launching a competition “My Future Public Space Model” geared to schools in Kuwait. Particularly for schools who participate actively in the Model United Nations extra curriculum activity MUN. Those are eligible to participate in the Sustainable Design Art Drawing Competition.

The Art Design competition will be displayed at Boulevard International Culture & Food Day Bazaar, Titled “Public Space for Peace” on March 15th & 16th. This event marks ten years of UN Habitat presence in Kuwait. The celebration of ten years of UN Habitat in Kuwait is organized under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

UN Habitat attributes special thanks to Al-Tijaria Company for their collaboration and hosting the event at their Boulevard Park, Salmiya.

As we invite your school’s students to participate in the Sustainable Art & Design Drawing

Competition as a side event of the celebration we aim to boost youth’s engagement in developing the future cities they want and need.

UN Habitat & Boulevard Park will launch the public space competition in order to engage and learn more about how youths would like to design and improve their districts park by making it more livable and engaging by adding any sustainable elements in the designs of what they want and need in drawing. The “My Future Public Space Model” will aim to help guide city developers and UN-Habitat’s experts to better understanding youth’s behavioral thinking in what they prioritize during their daily living activities. Providing us a glimpse of how to inspire future city designs around Kuwait districts and across the world by feeding our global public space initiative.

Your teachers are expected to select stuents who are willing to participate and design their vision of the sustainable park that is innovative and creative in design fabricating all the elements of what makes a public space sustainable in its functionality.

Boulevard’s park guests will have the opportunity to view the student’s creative designs and at the same time enjoy the food bazaar that brings all Kuwaiti entrepreneurs, International community and the public in a fun and learning day for a city that is sustainable by its public spaces.

The “My Future Public Space Model” Criteria competition: -

•           Open to all individual students from each school who are favored to participation

•           Competition open to students aged 9 till 12 years old  

      No group and should be individual designs

•           School offers the Model United Nations (MUN) extra curricula

The winning school will be awarded with a plaque of appreciation aswell as being mentioned in UN-Habitat’s website and the “I am City Changer Campaign,” an awareness platform for urban innovators to share the interventions and success stories they have made in their local areas.

The collaboration between Al-Tijaria and UN-Habitat will raise ‘youths’ awareness about the benefits of public space for sustainability and how this plays a strong impact for societies to thrive in Kuwait. Informing residents and youths of the added benefits of having public space and investing more into attractive outdoor communities. That are 50% more likely to achieve high levels of walking which help slow global warming and its role to shape urban development communities.
