Kuwait National English School Year 12 students unforgettable Trip to Istanbul, Turkey
At Kuwait National English School, we have a rich tradition of providing students with the opportunity to explore the world as a group and learn the cultural diversity of our world. In the past, we have had some great trips arranged to Spain, France, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, Dubai, Egypt, Qatar and Bahrain and this year was Turkey. On the 15th of November 2017 our Year 12 students and Mr. Guillaume Davet, their Form Tutor, flew to Turkey for a never before overseas educational school trip. It was a discovery tour and the students had an experience of a lifetime.
A physical and cultural bridge between Europe and Asia, the transcontinental city of Istanbul serves as a living reminder of the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman empires. Istanbul’s biggest attraction is its historical town center, a World Heritage Site filled with minarets and church domes. The city's entertainment hub, on the northern side of the natural harbor offers the Neoclassical architecture. Our students also visited the Bursa Water Falls, Jam & Honey Factories, Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia Mosque, Theme Park, Uludag Mountain Ortkoy Beach and Ulus. They spent some time shopping at the Old Bazaar, Veniza Outlet, Taksim Square, Istyine, Knyon, Cevahir and Yalova. Some memorable meals were eaten at the Nusret Steak House and at the Water falls.
So it was a week of fun and learning and our students returned to Kuwait National English School having acquired great knowledge and understanding of other cultures which was the main focus of this trip. Memories of KNES Educational trips are among the most prominent of the formative years. While their purpose is essentially to educate, they can also be a fun bonding experience for everyone involved and provide valuable educational opportunities away from the classroom. Students now look forward to next year’s trip with much enthusiasm.
