Kuwait National English School and Hyundai Northern Gulf Trading Safe Move Partnership
Year 1 and Year 2 pupils of Kuwait National English School spent an enjoyable, fun filled and educational day on Sunday, 12 November 2017, learning about safety on the roads through the Safe Move Programme initiated by Hyundai Northern Gulf. Hyundai Northern Gulf collaborated with Kuwait National English School (KNES) to take this program forward. Children and young people are at significant risk on our roads. We all need to learn to use the road responsibly. Road safety education plays an important role in shaping the attitudes and behaviours of children and young people and ensuring they become responsible drivers, passengers, pedestrians and cyclists.
This programme falls in line with the school’s PSHE programme, safeguarding policy and mission statement.
The programme aims at helping to promote and encourage proper practices through teaching road and traffic safety basics. This establishes children’s sense of responsibility at a young age that would help create a safer environment for both passengers in the vehicle as well as pedestrians trying to make their way on foot. The importance of safety on the roads was conveyed through various mediums and activities such as videos, PowerPoint presentations, practical demonstrations (clowns and mascots), question etc. Pupils were awarded gifts and certificates of appreciation for their participation in the event.
Our School Director, Madame Chantal Al Gharabally, commented, “At school, we have a lot of books that serve as useful guides to teach students about various topics. However, by providing an educational program that helps them understand and grasp how to implement what they have learned in real life, we can rest assured that they have taken something away from this new piece of knowledge. It is for this reason that we were more than happy to collaborate with Hyundai Northern Gulf’s efforts in taking the extra step to teach our children about road safety, an issue of major concern especially in Kuwait.”
Kuwait National English School appreciates and conveys its heartfelt thanks to Hyundai Northern Gulf for their concerted effort in giving back to the community in what we deem to be very important issue and wishes to continue with this partnership in the coming years.
